Again this year... for the umteenth time.

Join the hornets nest of airplanes and helicopters circling the start of the Boston Marathon. You will need to bring your best flying skills to avoid collisions.

Fixed wing planes including banner tows make left turns at 1,400' and fly side-by-side at times. Police and news helicopters will be below you making right turns. Other helicopters and bandit aircraft will be about 200' over your head. Twin engine planes even higher will be receiving TV signals from motorcycles on the ground. And heads-up to avoid the F15's flying under you at 1,000'.

When you fly down the route from the start to the Boston Class Bravo you will have seen every runner. All 25,000 of them.

We will mix all this flying with a bring-your-own picnic as we take the BAC Luxury Van to the race course. This involves a return to KOWD Norwood Airport and a trip to Wellesley, Mass.

More details for interested members. Contact Tom Corcoran ([email protected]).

I am working on the 16th...but I'll be pinning the Weather Gods down here in the other end of the state. ;)

Steve Cote has influenced the weather for our Boston Marathon Fly-Over tomorrow, Monday April 16 .

Rain/snow/icy pellets. Wind gusts to 30mph. Visibility crappy. Cold.

Chances are, there will not be too many planes up there to bump into.
