Bermuda Dunes Airport (KUDD - just east of Palm Springs) putting on its annual customer appreciation party December 22 (yes, mid week, but right before Xmas so who's working anyway?). Taco party and 100LL at $4.79! :D What better than an excuse not to work or take off early in the week and go flying!

I went to their website and didn't see anything there. However the general area would make for good winter fly-ins. I'm interested in the Auga Caliente Hot Spring Casino Resort (I assume there is a hotel). Might make for a nice weekend vegetation in the hot waters.

The casino has a "resort" so should be plenty of rooms (I have not been there). Golf is aplenty all around too. Also canyon hiking, the aerial tram (goes from seal level up 8500').

P.S. I fixed the date too.

Come on Nelson, it was a joke! I'm certain everyone realized in was Dec by the content of the post.

Everybody except the guy who posted it! Okay, I can joke at myself, can't I?

Seriously I know several sites where such a faux pas would have seen instant and incredible wrath (think Kahn) for such an event. BAC is blessed we aren't like that.

Maybe Nelson was having fun too... Where's that sarcasm type font or smiley...

I'm going to try to get to Auga Caliente Hot Spring Casino Resort and check it out. It could be a decent weekend fly-in. Will depend on the accommodations and the restaurant facilities. There is no other place to walk to. Perhaps next month.

Yea you guys are right. Sorry for the poor joke Mike, sorry.

I would like to attend but I am leaving for Egypt on Sunday.

Hi Bob,

Be careful if you see the pyramids - just read something on how bad the crime is in that area preying on the tourists... Enjoy...

Regards,
Scott

I checked out the resort at Agua Caliente Hot Springs. No rooms available under the AAA discount. Lots available for $219/night and up. I think I'll head over to Santa Fe where you can stay at the Buffalo Thunder for $109/night. Nice rooms too, with a fireplace, balcony with a view of the mountains. Was an enjoyable stay last a few years ago.

Anybody going to attend this fly-in thinking about making it but don't want to be be the only one, and sorry but just gassed up this AM and at Apple Valley gas is $3.99 so 4.67 does not impress!

Our $4.79 is full serve, not self serve. Only other airports in the Coachella Valley are at $6.56 and $7.93. Not being a government owned airport, the fuel sales have to pay for everything, fuel trucks, buildings, runway, and including real property taxes to the government.

Guys I just left Egypt and now I'm in Jordan. Don't worry about the crime it is very low. The tourist industry took a big hit and now no one wants to discourage travel. Even the people selling trinkets will say thanks and back off it you say no. However, it is so poor that if anyone does anything they expect a tip. One dollar goes a long way. If anyone wishes to go to Egypt take a few hundred dollars in tips. It is an amazing country though the poverty will make you sad.
