BAC To BAF "Post Tax Denial Fly-In"

Orbiting Earth
Just to remind anyone in range, our annual commiseration of Tax Day and celebration of our Baby Beeches will take place on Saturday, April 17th.

BAC will be hosting the fly-in at Barnes Municipal Airport (KBAF), Westfield MA. Stuff begins to move at 0900.

Come on in and meet old friends, new friends, stare at strangers, and generally look smug at flying such nice aircraft. (Kenny Cook: no more stenciling "Target Drone" on the Cessnas on the line this year!!)

Beech Aero Club will feed you. If we have miraculous weather we may char some protein on the grill, if not we will invade the fine Runway Restaurant again.

Five Star Jet Center still has the cheapest gas in the area (although neighbors AirFlyte are not far behind; both nice outfits). We have a tower and ILS for the timid; and we have a 9500' runway for the really timid.

For details, call me:
Steve Cote

or PM me through the BAC site here.

I hope to be there Steve. Practical test March 28 for my Commercial license. Just to forewarn you.

Umm, is that a warning that you may actually be in my airspace...MAKING A LIVING AT IT!! The nerve!
You'll do just fine. Have fun at it.

Hey Steve,

Now that I'm airborn again - Jackie and I are tentatively planning on trying to make this one...
Still need a refresher - was it pull back to go up - or - was it the other way around ???
:)

Regards,
Scott

Alrighty then! I will make sure I am at the airport bright and early to meet you.
Is Rheinbeck open this early? You may want to check the website (http://www.oldrhinebeck.org/). In any case, the Hudson and Connecticut river valleys are georgeous. (Watch out for the West Point airspace...they are often shooting things in the back 40.)

As for everyone else...come on in and greet out Texas cousins!

Ugggh - long range forecast is calling for rain...

Well of course it is! This too is traditional. Aww, hell, not much we can do about it. My advice to all is: if the conditions fit your personal minimums, come on down. If not, and you are close enough to drive, we'll be there. I have been persuaded that, far from my original Mother Hen attitude, we are all big boys and girls and can make our own decisions. So...we're stil on for Saturday!

We are on our way! We did Kittyhawk this morning (short hop from Edenton, NC) and flew on to Williamsburg, VA this afternoon. We will do it right tomorrow and weather permitting, continue north on Thursday

We plan on making the BAC to BAF wx permitting. Mary and I will be heading to Williamsburg tomorrow to have lunch with Bo & Sandra!!! We can't wait to catch up!!

Good friends an good eats! Mary and I bagged a day of work and saddled up for a Williamsburg lunch meet up at Charly's (KJGG) with Bo and Sandra. What a nice time enjoying the wx and catching up. We hope the wx is good for a saturday flight to KBAF. Nice tail winds heading south with ground speeds around 128 kts.
Heading home we were punished for enjoying those tail winds and had to endure 15-20 headwinds all the way home to KILG.

For some reason our camera whacked out and everything had a blue tint.........I miss the old point and shoot specials.

After enjoying the lunch and company of Gary and Mary yesterday afternoon, we went back downtown to finish touring Williamsburg and witnessing the afternoon re-enactments. Then after checking the weather forecasts, we decided to beat the Curse of the Cote, by bagging our original Thursday plan (Ocean City, NJ) and heading straight for Westfield, Mass. After flying over 5 states and landing in 4 of them, We swooped into Barnes about 4:15.

We listened to Steve's stories until after sundown and dinner at the Runway Cafe, then retired to our motel to wait for Saturday. Please, gang, don't let the Go Everywhere Mouse be the only plane in attendance!

Well, we are planning a "Standard Day" for the BAF Fly-In tomorrow. Standard, that is, for this event. Rain may be quite heavy in the AM but there is the chance it may become merely "Occasional" by lunch time.
Anyway, we have a GO for launch. I will be there early, but official start time is 0900...or whenever you get there. If you think you will be coming in late, by plane, car, ox cart, give me a call or email. (413-531-1938 cell, [email protected]). We have never yet left a guest alone on the field!

OH, and Bo has a point: Don't let a Mouse from Texas be the only plane on the field for the event!!
('Course mine is still down south in the "Mousepital" under the care of Dr. Chad.)

Upon arrival at BAF, tell the tower you are with the Beech Fly-In and would like to park by (taxiway) A-1.
I will try to meet you on that ramp.
If I miss you (or you drive) look for me in/around Five Star Jet Center

I really need to finish my IR!!

Not looking good for us making it tomorrow morning.

I know what you mean, Gary. It's uncanny isn't it?
I don't know if you have been in BAC long enough to know of the Cote Curse. This goes back to 4 out of 5 of these April fly-ins. And 6 out of 10 fly-ins I have done in any month!
Ask folks what I did to the first BAC event in Dayton!!
Well, you'll be there in spirit anyway. Thanks for the effort, my friend
