AOPA posts 7 new fly-ins

Level Cruise
AOPA has just posted 7 new regional fly-ins for 2014. This is a great opportunity to piggy-back on these events with BAC fly-ins. They definitely hit the 4 corners and more. These are one day events and if you are an AOPA member, a free lunch. Remember, any member can host a fly-in. If you are interested in hosting a fly-in please contact your Regional Director to have it listed on the calendar and for any questions or assistance you may need.

This was one of Mark Baker's ideas when he took the AOPA reins, to reconnect with community-based general aviation. The once-a-year mac-daddy AOPA Summit is no more, in favor of regional, one-day gatherings. The selection of airports for 2014 looks good, with perhaps only the mid-plains & Rocky Mountain front range areas not conveniently represented. Great to see his vision come to fruition! Hope to see many BACers at San Marcos in April!

What a coincidence!

BAC Northeast Region is planning a fly-in for Plymouth, Massachusetts for that same morning July 12.

Seems like Mark Baker has heard about us all the way to Frederick, Maryland.

Details later.

Tom Corcoran, Northeast Region Director

Tom,
I called him to let him know how disappointed you would be if he did not attend.
He needed an excuse to be there. That is why he decided to have a Fly-in too.
A picture of him in one of your Beech shirts is expected.
Dave

Dave this one should be good for you

Is this the photo of Mark Baker of AOPA you asked for?

Or is this Dave Singleton, famous director of the SOUTHEAST region wearing a NORTHEAST region t-shirt?

FAST FRED,

I will put that on the calendar. KSSI is a beautiful location and we should have a nice turnout. Tom will probably show up. As you well know, he comes from Boston just to attend our fly-ins.

TOM,

Thanks for the shirt. I really liked the fact it was free. I do need to exchange it for an XL. You brought me a "small" and it makes me look like my BMI is high.

So, is property in Florida looking pretty good to you about now???

drwhite,

You are certainly welcome to attend the January 18th, Fly-in the SOUTHEAST Region at KEVB. See above for more information. We welcome everyone, even TOM, but he does bring shirts.

Steve Powers of Florissant, MO just sent me a PM about a web site that I don't recall ever seeing discussed in the BAC forums. It is a web site to find places to fly to lunch with the use of a search engine. The site is: http://www.fly2lunch.com/ I have toyed with it just a little, but was so impressed that I wanted to share it with all of you. Maybe some of you have known about it for a long time, but I thought it should receive some publicity again if that is the case. Thanks Steve for pointing this one out to me!

Looks like a neat site but not many near airport restaurants within 200 miles of here.
