You all fly on in and enjoy a great lunch cooked up by your South Central Regional Director !!
The airport (airpark) is on the west side of San Antonio, Texas with designator 8T8. Mine is the big blue hangar with the front porch, adjacent to and facing the runway.
Come early and help cook, set up the tent, and chat a while. We'll be serving from noon to 2:00 pm. Enjoy (finally!) that cooler Texas fall weather that we have (for about 3 days) before it gets messy and cold, and we slip right into "winter".
This is the weekend before Thanksgiving, so we'll do our best to stretch out that tummy in preparation for the big turkey feast with family on the following Thursday. Hey ..... just trying to help out here ... And come see the "Sundowner that doesn't fly" (but she does taxi pretty well .... so far ....) and give my newly O/H engine your best once-over. Thanks.
Bonus - - looks like we'll be using runway 35 if the wind is out of the north as forecast. That puts your touchdown point within a few 100 feet of my hangar. Look for the scorecards as you taxi to parking !!!
The sunshine and ceiling (none) were great! The wind - - - well .... a little gusty. Not enough to move the chairs, but enough to slam the BBQ grill lid if I wasn't careful when tending the food. Only one landing and take-off while we were there - - my neighbor in a tail-dragger. So at least we were not skunked on airplane viewing!
A total of nine of us gathered around the table and chairs. Charles (BAC membership name CBaumann) drove about an hour to come join in. Nice! We all talked airplanes and (with the magic of smart phones) compared photos of older planes vs. what we remembered over the years. And ...
My next door neighbor showed up with a game that was very wind resistant. My first time at bocce ball .... ever! Now I feel like an old Italian dude!
Overall, a nice day for a BBQ in Texas and a good day to leave the tent in its bag. The temperature was perfect, and no bugs See you all next time around!
