The Southeast Region is hosting an event intended to be enjoyed and attended by pilots and their spouses / partners. You asked we listened this is not an event for pilots to spend all our time talking about our aviation, our avionics, work on our airplanes. (Although I am sure there will be a lot of discussions) This is a tour of an amazing facility dedicated to the 8th Air Force out of Savannah.
Located just miles from Downtown Savannah where the Eighth Air Force began on January 28, 1942, the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force tells the compelling story of ordinary people whose lives were transformed by extraordinary commitment and sacrifice.
Thousands of artifacts including a restored B-17 Flying Fortress, photographs and oral histories donated by veterans and their families tell these stories in a way that takes the visitor to WWII England and on missions above occupied Europe. We will have lunch at the authentic cafe on site and for those that want to journey into town after the tour that is also possible. The fees to land at KSAV and park at Sheltair as well as transportation to and from the museum and the fee for the tour will be covered by the Southeast Region. Please RSVP to me directly. 4007-342-8386. Any questions and or comments please let me know. Hope to see as many as possible. I need to have an accurate head count for transportation and seating.
